Cruise

I just got back from my cruise.  Prior to leaving, I reached my goal of breaking the 200 mark.  I left weighing 197.4.  Awesome.  The cruise came equipped with 24/7 food stations for fatties.  I told myself I wouldn't eat just to eat but I stand here guilty.  I think I had 20 ice cream cones a day.  I knew I'd put on some pounds but didn't know I'd come back weighing 209.4!!!  I hope most of that is water weight and I can be back down to 203ish in two weeks.  We'll see.

Note: I took the CQ supplement while on the cruise. I don't think it helped with anything obviously.

Cheat day sadness

Saturday the 5th my wife and I had no big plans.  An old college buddy was in town and asked me to meet him out for some drinks.  It was noon.  You can tell where this is heading.  Long story short, my wife and I met up with two friends and drank the afternoon away.  What?  We're allowed to on cheat day.  The sad thing is that we had this great day of fatting planned (pizza, calzones, ice cream, etc) and didn't eat the whole day after breakfast!  Probably is the main reason why we don't remember much of the night.  The funny thing is how bad you feel the next day for blowing your cheat day.  We're allowed to eat whatever we want, yet all we did was drink beer all day.  Rumor has it I was eatting something at a bar that we were kicked out of but due to heavy drinking that report cannot be confirmed nor denied.  Perhaps I was eatting someone else's food and that led to the boot.  No credit card charges though!  Cheat days are hilarious in this sense.  You start planning on Monday what you want to eat on Saturday.  Don't blow it!

Week 8 and 9

So week 8 ended with a big surprise...I put on 1.6 lbs or so.  I was shocked when I stepped on the scale because I thought I would break the 200 mark for the first time in many years.  I'm not really sure why I put on weight unless it was muscle.  The week prior I lost 2.2 pounds and the only change I made to my diet plan was 25g of protein before bed.  I'll blame it on that and consider it muscle gain.

Week 9 was much better.  I lost 3.2 lbs, the most since losing water weight in the first few weeks.  My change...one less meal per day.  I stopped eatting a second lunch at 4pm and just had 25g protein.  Surprisingly, I don't get massive hunger pains like I thought I would.  Now I am pretty hungry come lunch and dinner but nothing that warrants cheating on the diet.  The results pay off too.  I'm very interested to see how this Saturday turns out...maybe 197 lbs ????

Muay Thai and Krav Maga

I consider myself an active person. I hit the gym 3x a week and lift weights.  I try to do some cardio and abs workouts in between my lifting days.  This past week I tried out Krav Maga and Muay Thai.  Krav was pretty cool.  The class had about 12 people, 8 guys and 4 girls.  Nothing too intense but I could see myself learning some cool combat techniques.

Last night I tried Muay Thai kickboxing.  Holy shit.  What a workout.  The class was a little over an hour and I was totally drenched and exhausted after 30 minutes.  I think its a great cardio activity to complement working out and losing all this weight.  I felt totally out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing, for most of the class since I had no idea what I was doing.  Oh yeah thats right, and we were sparring!  I survived the class and look forward to going back.

Week 7 recap

Just finished week 7 where I tried to cut back on coffee.  I lost 2.2 lbs which is an increase from week 6 at 1.8 lbs.  I'm not sure if its due to the PAGG stack I started taking or maybe the 25g of whey I take first thing in the morning.  For week 7 I plan on adding in even more whey, 25 g prior to bed, and jogging first thing in the morning.  I'm currently at 202.2 lbs so hopefully next Saturday I weigh in sub 200!

The power of food

I keep telling myself to try not to go out of my way stuffing my face on my Saturday cheat days.  The result?  Stuffing my face like the fat German kid in Willie Wonka.  My weakspot every weekend has been a pint of ice cream. I know we're allowed to eat whatever we want but I also know that I don't need that pint of ice cream.  We'll see if I can change that this Saturday.  Beer could be the culprit...knock a few back and you wake up with Taquito crust on your face and sticky Ben and Jerry's fingers.

Overall thoughts on the diet so far

The diet isn't hard.  That is to say as long as you can stay mentally strong. It probably helps to have a goal to work towards at the end.  For me - I'm going on a cruise in March and manboobs aren't on the itinerary. I've been tracking all of my meals and progress in Excel which also helps keep me motivated, and well, obsessed.

  • My energy levels are pretty high.  I don't really feel tired ever.
  • I'm never really hungry - since I'm eatting 4 meals a day.
  • It works
